You can now automatically add captions to videos on your Facebook page. This feature currently supports US English and is not yet available for video carousel ads on Facebook, Instagram video ads, 360-degree videos, or Canvas.
As an admin with access to your page, you can use this feature. It has quietly started rolling out to pages based in the US and will soon be available globally.
For several years, manually adding subtitles was the norm, but now you have the option to do it automatically.
Facebook aims to assist every Page in adapting to the auto-play format where videos are silent until clicked. This allows viewers in public places without headphones to fully understand muted videos and decide whether to watch with sound and in full-screen mode.
When administrators upload a video to their page, they’ll find a ‘Generate’ button in the current video editor to add subtitles. Alternatively, you can also access the ‘Generate’ button above the video in the feed. Facebook breaks down the subtitles into segments, suggests corrections, allows playback for verification, and enables editing for accuracy before saving them to the video.
